MUSKINGUM
Pacific Palisades, CA
Taking inspiration from Donald Judd’s Untitled open ended aluminum boxes, this single-family residence consists of three metal-clad boxes carefully situated on the site to form a sequence of outdoor spaces. Interstitial spaces become architecture, making a modest footprint feel larger while maintaining the original character of the neighborhood before the devastating fire. The volumes are topped by sculptural roof monitors that scoop sunlight into the space to highlight changes in materiality and color within the building’s interior. This project is currently in construction — more information coming soon.
“The inside is radically different from the outside. While the outside is definite and rigorous, the inside is indefinite.”
— Donald Judd
