Poetic spaces for creative clients.

Fleetwood Fernandez is an architecture studio that designs understated, uniquely personal homes and select commercial spaces that celebrate craftsmanship and prioritize a sustainable future. Our projects weave the natural environment into the built, and explore the ways in which architecture alters not only our memory, but our actions. With an economy of form and line, we design projects from the inside out, focusing on daily rituals of use to drive the design process from detail to building form. In examining the narrative that is exclusive to each project, we develop a dialog by which each client can craft an environment unique to their own way of living.

Founded in 2007 in Los Angeles and currently under expansion to Palma de Mallorca, Spain, the studio is led by founding partners Hunter Fleetwood and Mariapaz Fernandez. Their multicultural union draws from their connections to two uniquely diverse countries and naturally fosters gender and cultural diversity and inclusion. Our physical home is a restored Art Deco building in East Hollywood, where we work in an open environment because collectively pursuing good ideas is more important than individual ownership over them.

Fleetwood Fernandez has completed custom residences, restaurants and boutique commercial projects throughout the United States and Spain. Our work has been recognized with many publications and awards, including several AIA Los Angeles Design Awards, AIA Los Angeles Restaurant Design Awards, 2019 Interior Design Best of Year honoree, and an Architect Magazine 2014 National Design Review Winner.

“The space we love is unwilling to remain permanently enclosed. It deploys and appears to move elsewhere without difficulty; into other times, and on different planes of dream and memory.”

— Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Space
